A refu+ure Indonesia's library catalogue

refu+ library

The first Indonesian library dedicated to the issues of refugee and forced migration (displacement), humanitarian action, peace, development, and Islamic ethics, history & society.

Welcome to refu+library! 🌞

A tiny library proudly present by refu+ure Indonesia.

A place where stories come to life, and knowledge finds a cozy home. 📚

Our mission is to weave a rich tapestry of stories on refugees, forced migration, humanitarian action, peace, and development. We also honor religious books with insights into thoughts, ethics, history, and role models to follow.

While our shelves currently echo in English (due to the more availability of books discussing the topics we seek), we’ve also got a small collection of Indonesian gems! Here’s to hoping for more Indonesian translations in the future! ✨

A Unique Collection, Just for You: Each book in our collection is carefully selected to enlighten and inspire. We have both new and pre-loved books, each offering a unique perspective. Currently, we have just one copy of each title, but this is just the start. As our journey unfolds, our collection will grow, providing you with countless chances to explore and connect.

Special Collection: Palestine

Special Collection: Rohingya

‘I am three years old and will have to grow up with the hostility of others. I am already an outlaw in my own country, an outlaw in the world. I am three years old, and don’t yet know that I am stateless.’

Habiburahman was born in 1979 and raised in a small village in western Burma. When he was three years old, the country’s military leader declared that his people, the Rohingya, were not one of the 135 recognised ethnic groups that formed the eight ‘national races’. He was left stateless in his own country.

Through the eyes of a child, we learn about the historic persecution of the Rohingya people and witness the violence Habiburahman endured throughout his life until he escaped the country in 2000, eventually reaching Australia by boat in December 2009.
